Hi Liz, We are sorry you are unhappy with the pricing. I think there may be some confusion with the process required for your system. We were unable to find the leak with our tools that can identify it right away. The next process is to add refrigerant to your system, with dye, so that we can see exactly where the refrigerant is escaping. A follow up service call is required, and is part of the work order that you have already paid. That call should be scheduled about 2-3 weeks out, to give the system time to cycle through the refrigerant. Our office will be in touch this week to schedule. So, your charges actually add up to the two service calls, the refrigerant and dye added to your system. If you have any further questions or if you did not get your work order detailing this, please feel free to call our office at 717-657-2451.

The Perfect Cooling Solution for an Older Cape Cod

Our 1940 Cape Cod posed several issues for an upgrade from window cooling units. First, there are no ducts. There is also little or no room to run ducts or even ductless lines. And because of how the home is constructed, it was necessary to have two exterior units serving three interior ductless heat pumps. This means that there are three zones where individualized cooling (and, if we don't want to use the furnace, heating) can create a whole house solution to providing the right temperature. Other contractors had similar proposals, even using the top of the line Mitsubishi units, but Buffington was clearly the winner for several reasons. David, who wrote up our proposal, had an immediate grasp of what needed to be done. Other contractors seemed to have a more difficult time with the logistics. Buffington offered two models of heat pumps, and both proposals were far more reasonable than others received. (We had some apple-to-apple comparisons with the Mitsubishi units, and Buffington's pricing was much more in line with what we had anticipated.) David also answered all our questions and offered a more complete picture of what the end result would be, from efficiency to maintenance and even esthetics. Even up to the installation, however, we were worried that having an old house might throw a curveball to the installers. Sheldon and Kyle were the the guys who did the install, and they were prompt, courteous, and made quick work of the job. We were told it would take two days and they got the job done in two days, a little less actually. What David promised, Sheldon and Kyle delivered. The units look better than expected and the test run was impressive. It remains to be seen how they perform long term in cooling, cost, and efficiency, but they are whisper quiet and loaded with features. The exterior units were even smaller than expected, with a small footprint. Sheldon and Kyle also made sure that aside from a little dust, debris was cleaned up. After years of hauling clunky window units up and down flights of stairs and dealing with their loud volume, we are finally rewarded with a system that we are happy with, courtesy of WM Buffington. Well done, guys!

While the service was excellent, prompt and reasonably priced considering the work involved,. I am disappointed in the reliability of my Amana heatpump, considering it age of less than 3 years. Now I'm wondering what's going to go wrong next. I'm almost up to half of the original cost. I guess the next time it craps out I'm going to have consider replacing it.

I understand that you need to charge for service calls -- but unfortunate that I had to have a service call. WM Buffinton was the first selection made when using the Internet and from this selection I received quality service from communications made with Joann on making he appointment including the follow-up needed because the gas fireplace would not re-lite up after the service was completed. And that he third service appointment was not charged even though the reason/cause was not discovered. In addition, Dan who completed the repairs was very customer oriented and very honest with each conversation held. Since the follow-up appointment the fireplace has operated as normal without any restarts needed with the pilot light. The pricing of the service was exceptable but the cost including the parts replaced was very expensive.

My requirement was to remove my old water heater & a week later install a new one. Sheldon proposed a plan which included a small loaner water heater & made sure he brought long extra long hoses to keep them up out of the contractor work areas. Things went smoothly with plenty of hot water that week & then during the installation of the new water heater. Buffington's providing the loaner allowed me to stay in my home during the renovations.

4 years is how long my system has been installed. In that time I had a board go basin one unit and now a motor in my attic unit. $500 for labor to repair, supposedly motor covered by warranty. Ridiculous amount of money for less than 2 hours work. Looking for another company for my service. The below ratings reflect my disgust for $250 an hour labor

We are very sorry to hear about your displeasure with yesterday's service. No matter the circumstances, we obviously strive to provide everyone with an exceptional service experience. However, I would like to point out that our technician did spend 3 hours on your call.... From the point of arrival, to departure. Please bare in mind, that does not include a 1 hour travel time since your location is roughly 25 miles from our office. After our technician diagnosed the problem on your unit, he needed to acquire the part from a supply house as it was not a common part that is carried on our trucks. Again, your home is fairly out of range from any supply houses so that did, unfortunately, add to the job time. We certainly understand the ugly expense associated with HVAC equipment, and the disappointment it can provide to our customers. With that being said, we try to make a difference with the quality of work we provide... between response time, workmanship, communication, etc. ~We appreciate your feedback
